Rise of the Beasts!

#1 Postby LittleRubberGuys » Sun Sep 27, 2015 1:49 pm

Hi Glyos fans!

We have an awesome little line of mini action figures called Rise of the Beasts!
You can score some here: http://littlerubberguys.storenvy.com/co ... the-beasts
The website for the line can be found at http://RiseOfTheBeasts.com

Our figures average around 60mm tall and have articulation at the neck, shoulders and waist. Some figures have an extra tail joint as well.
We use Glyos pegs for the joints because of the sheer awesomeness of the design. Simple, durable and universal!

Series 1 is currently out and consists of a Rhino character and a Scorpion character in a few various colors.
There are painted versions who are actual characters in the upcoming comic:
Image
Gaamik

Image
Cahriv

Image
Bal Kharn

Image
Cerula

We also have a few unpainted versions, for those who only collect mono minis.
Image Image
Image Image

Image Image

We do not have any plans to releases these two in any new colors until Series 2 is out.

But speaking of Series 2..

Series 2 is still currently under development. We have 4 characters almost ready to go:

Image
Group shot!

Image
Asayid, our Lion character and homage to White Leo/Pirate Lion from the original Battle Beats series.

Image
Khabasat. A horned lizard. We recently added a tail to this guy (thanks to suggestions from fans!).

Image
Guwrah, another Battle Beasts homage. This time to the ever popular Gargantuan Gorilla.

Image
No name for this guy yet. He is our wicked cool ant character. We had to thicken up the antennae on his head. The original ones broke off during the cleaning of the 3d print. They were just too thin.

Image
A new (old) head for our Scorpion character.

We have a ton of weapons designed too (here is a sampling).
Image

We printed some out, but realized we need to revise their sizes to better fit the figures. That is actually what has been holding up a Kickstarter for Series 2. Once the weapons are scaled, I can get a quote from the factory and launch the KS.

So, while this line is still in its infancy and we still haven't managed to find out rhythm yet, we are still pushing ahead! For all of you who have already joined us on this journey, we appreciate it HUGELY! For those of you who have not yet, what are you waiting for? :)

Thanks guys!

In regards to scale, here are some comparison pics to give you a better idea.

Having Glyos joints makes them Glyos compatible, however, they are not really in scale with the other Glyos lines for true building purposes. You can certainly get some fun mashups out of them though. :)

They do scale beautifully with Mark's Mystical Warriors of the Ring though.

Eric Koppen (koppenschevelle, Delta Chameleon) is our prototype painter for the line. He put out some custom paint jobs recently. Here they are in his own words.

delta chameleon wrote:Hey guys,

I have been doing some custom paint jobs for Jkaris for his RotB line. I finished a few of them up, and wanted to see what you thought. I still have 5 more figures that I have to finish.

These first two are hand cast resin prototypes of the Rhino and Scorpion. The rhino is an homage to Sailon (A Rocky Rhino yellow/grey homage is coming next!) The scorpion I really wanted to do a desert scheme for him.

Image Image Image

These two I did as homages to different transformers characters that have used these animals, namely Rhinox, from Beast Wars, and Scorponok, from Generation 1.

Image

These next two are both plays on different Glyos colorschemes. The Rhino is a play on the original Venjorun armorvor colorscheme, but instead of a white wolf, its a black rhino. The black scorion is supposed to be both an emperor scorpion as well as a play on the Super Crayboth Shadow color scheme.

And this last guy is an homage to Marvel's Scorpion, one of Spiderman's enemies.

And some group photos:

I have five more figures to finish, including Rocky Rhino homage figure. Hopefully those will be up soon. Thanks for looking. Let me know what you think!

ROTB is easily one of the most exciting properties in the Glyos family! 8-) It has endless potential and I am excited for it's future! :D

Series 2 will open the door on some amazing mash-ups too. These guys are already tons of fun to mix with other Glyos, but can't wait to get some more...just imagine an alliance of ant-army with Mushi ?ImageImage

My day job just got a lot busier, so I won't have any time to tinker with my 3d printer until after the first of the year.
That being said, I went ahead and ordered the weapons printed from the same place we have our masters printed. 3 different sizes of each, so we should have a winner when they come in!

I'll post pics at all the usual places as soon as they arrive. :)

Nice! I ended up doing a Rhinox of my own but went the opposite way to preserve the realistic look of the rhino in the armor. Started on a Scorponok as well but never got around to finishing it.

I'm impressed with your compromise of scale -- how you managed to make them fit with the two differing figures. Will you have some of this stuff in your pack at DCon?

Like Devastator colors? It's entirely possible. Can you post an example of a figure that is colored like that?

I was thinking either green with purple paint apps or even better, green plastic figures and a then purple plastic figures.

For the green, I would love to see something close to the Spymonkey Venom green:

Image

For the purple, light or dark, it doesn't matter as long as its purple. Even the above purple. Any of the purples in the Disruptor crayboths would be nice:
Image

I love the October Toys purple as well:
Image

If I had the money, we would talk about the $1600 level on Kickstarter. :D

I can't find an exceptional picture representing the colors well, but the mailaway Creepy figure from Gobots would be an awesome homage: http://www.toyarchive.com/Gobots/Regular/CreepyGreen.html.
