And the new Robo Force mold connected to this wave is the Zetonian, which is basically a Glyos take on the original Ideal toy design:

Based on Matt's unsubtle hints in the blog, that "suction cup" is definitely going to double as a new style of Gobon body.

We also know the faction symbol in use here and that the new Toyfinity figure didn't show all of it's parts... if this is designed to double as a Gobon style bot, what are the odds we're getting a production Renegade?

I totally see that now too, good deducing!

That would be such a welcome addition, This is going to be awesome!

Looks like maybe a bulked Hub Set as well as new Gobon?

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing those additional unseen parts that he's determined to keep secret till the Onell drop.

Based on what we have seen in that single image, I can see how it could be rebuilt into a very Gobon-evolved build. With the whole Renegade topic coming up, I wonder if the Renegade Gobon head will be one of those extra parts that will be standard with the Zetonian. Matt said "Gobon fans will hopefully be happy, even though there are no original Gobons in this wave" so maybe we'll get a production Renegade Gobon head this way. I'm curious to see the dimensions of this fellow compared to Gobon.

That being said, every time I am 100% convinced I have figured out Matt's hints I am always 100% wrong, so....

Thoughts:

  • From the picture of the Zetonian standard build, we can see what looks like analogues to the Gobon bell, Gobon Disc, and multi-segmented arms that could be used for Gobon thighs and Gobon arms, as well as shoulder pieces that could be the next evolution for the "Cerberus" build (which used Gobon Blaster balls for shoulders).
  • Assuming that the Zetonian hands (not quite analogous to the big ol' Gobon mitts) and head (unless there's a different face on the reverse) as pictured are not used for the Onell version, that still leaves feet, hands, a pelvis, and at least one head unaccounted for; however, the head could be hidden inside the bell / ball like the original Gobon sculpt.
  • If we run with Robotimms' idea about a Hub Set, that also means we're missing two Hub cylinders, two T-connectors, one "hand" piece, and a dome; however, the shorter cylinder in the Zetonian body and the head could easily be a replacement for the dome, the Zetonian hands could be doubling-up on the "hand" piece, and there's no guarantee that the cylinders and the T-connectors would even be upscaled.
  • Assuming all of this is correct, then we'd be missing at least six parts (five if the "Renegade" head is hidden already) that we don't see from the Zetonian build, plus maybe whatever parts would be required to make them "work" as a connected build (as what we saw with the Roboforce legs assembly) and/or as a beefier Hub Set.

That all being said...

This has been my life as a Glyos nerd for the past ten years. Watch everything above be absolutely, utterly wrong.

EDIT: More info from the blog:

  • Dark (gunmetal?) silver metallic stuff is on the way as part of this wave.
  • Govurom will feature as a "special project" tied to a later assortment.
  • Elder Exellis / LSA / Dark Traveler will be making a return before the end fo the year.

Interesting news for 2018...

All of this info is very exciting to me.

My long time passion over the Govurom character makes my mind run.

This is going to be a really fun summer for toys.

=)

I'm under the belief the Zetonian hands will be the shoulders of the "Gobon" build, using those ports coming out of the fists as the top of the biceps, and possibly using the Zetonian shoulders as feet if there are ports on the top.

More updates:

  • There will be a total of 9 PVC colors in the drop.
  • The new mold will be featured in 2 different PVC colors, both with "a good amount of paint applications."
  • The Dark Traveler sculpt will be returning with connections to another crossover project.

Interesting take. My only qualm would be that the port at the top of the fists looks to be noticeably narrower than the arm pieces, so it'd create an odd sort of transition as a shoulder. Of course, the cool part about Glyos is, either of us could technically be right, based on how we build it...

  • Wow, that's quite a bit. Looking back at the last drop there was a variety of colors, 7 from my count. I'm assuming we'll see a similar spread of a few being in multiple molds while some PVC colors are set for a single specific figure.
  • Very interesting because that can mean a few things. I think initially the thought is paint masked sections but I wouldn't completely count out detail lining or even a wash if we're really talking about Renegades. But will these Renegades also get capes/cloaks? And another twist, what if we're wrong and these aren't Renegades at all?
  • I'm not going out on a limb or anything by saying this but my favorite Dark Traveler is the Rift Breaker. Any direct connection to the Rift Killers?

Rift Killers are connected to the Vector which the Vector Jump Knights use to travel through instantaneously.

I would think the Mystery figure will have two colors alone because of the orange body and clear helmet of the Alpha Interceptor Pilot. Orange Neo Sarvos mixed together with clear Glyarmor and painted like Glyrecon from Wave 72. As sad as I am to see the main Space line get finished off we still have the chance for a few extra "honorary" characters to join the line-up. I wouldn't say no to the Land Speed Racer and the similar Super Speed Racer after finding some Adventure People at the bottom of a storage tin over the weekend.

According to John Kent the new Zetonian has over 20 parts.

You can see 13 (4 for each arm, 5 for the torso) plus something clearly on the backside. I ordered 5 to try out something with big wheels using the lower base part(s).

Couple of new tidbits from the blog:

  • For the silver: similar color to the original Gendrone Revolution run, but with a different accent color.
  • Hades and Argen will both be a part of the drop.
  • Hades will have some different paint app locations to reflect a test version that Matt tried years ago.
  • No Toy Pizza cossover this run, but will return in late August / early September.

EDIT: Even more info:

  • In addition to a mystery figure, there will also be a mystery Glyarmor set available in the store.
  • The 1000Toys collab will be featured at DCon.

Also, this:

Matt wrote:We've been working on gathering all the older works like a Gear's Edge reprint (with extra stuff) and a combined Rechlen and Aves book as well. The amount of drawings for both those projects alone could fill multiple books.

The major focus, however, is the collected Ralph art/comics big book. Ralph and I are working on getting together so we can really make it happen.

Very happy to hear about those book projects in development. It'll be nice to finally get to read Gear's Edge and Rechlen and Aves, and hopefully that second chapter of The Gendrone Chronicles does end up getting made.

That's great to hear they are working on reprints of the old books. That seems to be a recurring request by collectors whenever the topic comes up.

The way drops have been lately, most everything should still be around by Friday afternoon, at least.

Speaking of, almost 11:00 am and still no teasers. Interesting.

I guess it's not quite like last year with the Villser reveal, what with Toyfinity already showing the figure in one form. Hoping we start seeing the new Zetonian in a totally not a Renegade-esque Gobon formation around noon.

Pure speculation, but . . . is that meant to be the Mystery figure? I ask only because the eyes are painted in a similarly simplistic way.

Matt did mention there were only honorary members of the set left to go, and the color layout is out there enough to be a mystery figure, but why would Marty let the mystery figure slip ahead of time?

From what I could gather, it’s an homage to a villain named Vlix from the Star Wars droids cartoons?

Yup, and apparently a collaboration effort with 16bit.com http://www.16bit.com/fotd/180712-glyos-vlixden.shtml
