It's a shame that Grimskull's Kickstarter Campaign didn't meet its Funding Goal :( But I stand ready and thoroughly looking forward to supporting the "Revised" Round 2 Project - Grimskull needs to be realised!

Like, SERIOUSLY! - The Baron and his Minions are already threatening me for being a "Legion of Losers" sympathiser! :o

I'm on board with whatever SW next step is; these first action figs have been SO well done, love them! Missed the first Kickstarter but won't miss another chance to support SW in whatever form it takes...as long as its October Toys & Glyos compatible ;)
Great to see you here Hursty! We gotta make sure ZMOQ finds his way here too.

Hello all, George, Hursty, Rayne Gallows and Balok! Gee! I didn't know you cared so much for me! LOL.

We'll it's great seeing you here, so in case the Oct Toys forum shuts down (it's still alive right now), I'll still have a place to post pictures of my various projects. I still have a few going, some relatively complex, and a Polly Pocket custom that's just finishing up. And, with Halloween at the end of the month, I already have a "Skeleton Warriors Family Day Halloween" plan.

The Pit Lurker Skeleton released by Onell would have been a lot better if the paint didn't feel sticky. It's great to look at, but annoying to have a sticky feeling on your fingers every time I play with it. But I have no problems with the mold. The guys at October Toys (I think it was George Gaspar who sculpted it) did a wonderful job on the figure!

This is sort-of related to Glyos. Skeleton Warriors are Glyos. So, by association, websites about Skeleton Warriors are Glyos connected, right?

I'm starting to build my own blog page. Some of the material had been seen on the October Toys boards, but because of the upcoming (?) maintenance, I'm beginning to compile my posts into a more formal website. It can also become the repository of my toy rantings/musings.

Looks like Boss Fight is getting their skeletons in early February. They are 4" scale and should fit in. Might play well with Baron Dark.

Also, I've been thinking, what if the entire SW line was sculpted and kick started? That way there would be plenty of different sculpts for people to add and potentially variants to add to help raise money. Most just added the one figure and that was not enough. So having the option to add Grimskull, Shadow variant, a human sized skeleton, and what not might generate more money. Sure, the overall goal will be higher, but with more choices, it could work.

I think the Grimskull KS could have worked with maybe one more Grimskull variant and at least a couple Baron Dark variants. I would never have the money to pledge for the entire line plus variants in a 30 day campaign, especially if it pops up with little warning.

The last KS just didn't have enough buying options to get the average pledge where it needed to be, and news of the KS didn't seem to be spread as well as it was for Baron Dark. Hopefully SDCC and D-Con have a lot of fans waiting on the next KS attempt.

I placed my order with Boss Fight Studio. I could use a pair of nicely articulated skeletons for my skeleton troops, in a slightly smaller size and sculpted differently for a little variety. They're not the *main* troops, because they're li'l dudes. They're probably going to be relegated to other, non-fighting tasks like driving the wagons.

On the subject of Skeleton Warriors, I believe that any ideas about a full line would need 9 characters. 1) Grimskull 2) Prince Lightstar, 3) Talyn 4) Ursak 5) generic Legion of Light Trooper 6) Shriek 7) Aracula 8) Dr. Cyborn 9) Dagger. The main problem I see is the sculpting and molding costs for each individual character. Most modern action figures (sadly) have all their clothing sculpted on and have to be part of the mold. So there isn't a lot of re-use potential, and most people would only need one of each, and maybe multiples of the army-builders.

If the tooling costs for each individual character is in the $30,000 area, then 9 characters would need a Kickstarter for $270,000. Companies like Hasbro can afford the individual tooling for their hundreds of Star Wars figures, but an indie toy company can't match that.

I think that Boss Fight found the magic recipe by having a base generic human body molded, and then creating separate armor/helmet/equipment pieces. So, if most of the cost is in the basic body (which is already paid for), then they can keep expanding the line with new warriors simply by sculpting (or repainting) a new set of armor/helmet/equipment pieces. Then, volia! a new figure to send to market! They don't have to keep reinventing the wheel (human body) just to market a new character.

That's the advantage that previous generations of kids had with their dolls, er... action figures like Gi Joe, Barbie, MEGO, etc had. Same base body reused over and over again, but with different heads and different clothing/accessory packs.

If October Toys can tap into this design, but with a Glyos body, then they can sell their stuff to a whole new audience (Glyos Universe), outside of fans of the cartoon series. After all, who doesn't need Glyos human figures?

Good thing I checked back in after a long period of inactivity here! I like the green translucent skellys. I guess it depends on how much they cost, and whether I should wait for the next Kickstarter to see what else I can group together?

My current/next projects involve a "Pirates of the Carribean"/"Secret of Monkey Island" vibe plus a little influence from my Tokyo vacation. The October Toys skellys are very adaptable and I'll be customizing at least one of them into a pirate. Creepy green translucent will be even better. I like the size (4.75"), and the compatibility with Spooky Kooky jigglers, 5" figures and also Figma.

I just got a notice from Boss Fight studios that my BFS skeletons will be shipping soon. I am definitely interested in seeing how well I can integrate them with the Oct Toys skellys.

BTW- where did everybody go? When October Toys had an active forum, there were LOTS of postings about Skeleton Warriors. Then, when it was announced that the forum was "closing" last October (but never did), everyone seemed to hightail outta there and discussion about Skeleton Warriors just abruptly stopped?

I'm not really into the Titan Skeletons. I only have the Pit Lurker. I'm really hoping Skeleton Warriors continue for the main characters. It was disappointing that the Grimskull kickstarter didn't even come close to being funded.

I grabbed a Jade Titan, one of the regular Titans with the paint wash that I missed before, and what the heck, a non-painted bone Titan too.

I've got some skeletons from Boss Fight coming my way, so I thought that the shine from these guys might have been taken off, but I've been getting my stuff out of storage after a move and just pulled out the other Titans I have. Still pretty nifty. I originally wished these guys could have been a bit more realistic looking and better scaled to other toys I have, but now that Boss Fight has that covered, I appreciate the sculpting on the Titans even more. They can hang with my Skeledens and Battle Tribes figures, and the Boss Fight guys can go with my GI Joes and such.

Okay! My 2 Boss Fight Studios skeletons arrived today! I have never SEEN such tiny, delicate hand and foot pegs before! Not sure how well those will hold up under normal posing and wear and tear. Those pegs look like they're 1mm! The BFS skellys initially have stiff joints, and a flatter ribcage than I expected. I don't think the knees have any side-to-side movement, so they can't cross their legs.

They are clearly adult human skeletons, and are proportioned that way.

The Rement Pose skeletons from Japan look more like children (large head, short limbs, small torso) compared to October Toys Titan skellys, so the Pose skellys are perfect to represent their pesky kids.

On my Tokyo/Hong Kong trip, I managed to obtain a Revoltech "Jason and the Argonauts" skelly for less than $30. The skull, body and weapons are the same size as October Toys Titan skellys, so I'd consider those two lines to be better suited to each other. I don't even consider October Toys Titan skellys to be 1:18, even if that was the original intention. They look way better with other figures/lines that are larger than 1:18.

Some initial thoughts:

Pose Skeleton, BFS skeleton, Kaiyodo Dokuroman skeleton:
Advantages: moveable jaw, more realistic overall sculpts
Disadvantages: floppy joints, or joints that pop out easily

Revoltech skeleton:
Advantages: moveable jaw, more realistic overall sculpt, good joints, good accessories
Disadvantages: Expensive! Not practical for army building or modifications

October Toys Titan skeleton:
Advantages: Does not fall apart, good joints, Glyos, very reasonable price
Disadvantages: Non-moveable jaw, stylized sculpt that some find "cartoony"

They're more stylized so that they project a cute look. The first model is a teen and then they released an adult and child size version (besides dinos, zoo animals, pets, accessory sets, and now expandable dio sets coming soon.)

Just got my Jade Skeletons in the mail yesterday and i'm having a hell of good time building with these plus a few Glyarmor, axis joint sets and weapons from Spy monkey of course.

I need me some Voss Axis joints now to really make the combination seamless.

@Witch (x3): All right, you convinced me! I just placed an order for a Jade skeleton. Should be arriving sometime next week. It is my intention to paint wash it, add an eyeball and an eyepatch and start customizing it into a proper pirate.

@All: My Boss Fight skeletons arrived a few days ago. They're very nice, but for all the thought and care that went into the design, there's just one little pose that BFS skelly can't do that Pose skelly, Titan skelly and Revoltech skelly can easily do. I just posted my review as part of a larger article: A Collection of Toy Skeletons
