Stupid question: Can these be ordered without having a smart phone?

Whoa. I'm out.

They look cute and all, but that is never going to meet my cost/benefit analysis.

The cheapest (and thus smallest) possible size for a traveller is right under the height of a standard lego minifigure at 3.8 cm. They cost $18.72 and shipping is $4.99 to the states. There's a 10% discount for buying a second figure, but shipping increases with every figure more than the 10% despite the packages likely being the same size for a few of these tiny beasts. The biggest you can get is a figure about 10 inches tall, for the low price of $3,445  A figure about as tall as a standard traveller appears to be approx $100. Best bet is to stick to the bit size in bit figs, although my hope of building hundreds of lego brick sized core blocks were just dashed. About to order a Sullkren and maybe a crayboth to check em out in person.

Yeah, I don't foresee me buying any of these at those prices. That's far too much for what they are.

I assume that it's the color process in combination with the Leblox partnership that makes these so expensive, as there are far more complex toys available for cheap on shapeways. But anything printed in full color is going to make even the smallest of designs quite pricey.

Thanks for all the feedback and honesty here.

Just want to clarify a couple things- these are not "toys" per se, but more collectible works of art. Each one is made to order, and truly is a prototype figure, with finishing touches applied by hand. While not for everyone, the Leblox series offers unique, full color representations of these characters- on demand.

We're working on expanding Bit Figs into a full production line as well. The interest and exposure garnered from Leblox will hopefully help introduce this project to new markets, while providing one of a kind versions to those interested.

Thanks again for all the support so far!

These are seriously awesome, Marcus!
It's great to see your art come to life in 3D! From MegaMan style and Glyos guys, to album covers, to figures, I really dig all the pixel stuff you've done. :AA05:
To me the cost is totally cool for what they are, and though these days I'm generally too broke to pay attention, haha, I hope these or the Limited ones will still be available when things are better for me here. I really want to add a Pheyden and his DJ equipment to rock my toy shelves! :)

Has anyone ordered any of these yet? I'm wondering the turn around rate.

I believe the turn around time to the US is 2-3 weeks. I received my packages months before they relaunched the app (in about 2 weeks time), so I'm not positive how quickly things are shipped now. But they did a great job packing them securely and even include a hand numbered/signed certificate of authenticity and quality.

Thanks guys!

These guys are irresistible in person. It was a great advantage to buy these off of the table, rather than mail ordering them from France. I've got say, I'm smitten by the Madroy character and am wishing I had purchased an arcade machine. The turntable, mixer, and game machine all have war-bot features, which I hadn't noticed before. Marcus, I need you to post their backstories, since the details have slipped my mind.

You can see the fun stuff Marcus is playing with, namely BitFigs of all scales. Minifig fans, the time is now to start pressuring him to get cranking on his new 3D printer. We need more BitFigs!

I just hope I can find a few of these machines in my local stores.

If I do, I'm going to be heading home with a handful of these awesome little guys!

Maybe I spend too much time Crayboth-gazing (what? never!), but when I was reading the Animal Bit Figs blog post, the final picture triggered a synapse in my brain. The pile of colors seemed somehow familiar...

It was Blackbeak that did the sparking, with his distinct coloring and black beak. But consider that these three Cray' have no color connection to the drop and even their stinger details match up with the Bit Figs. Yeah, these have got to be in recognition of the new capsule line.

If you're still not convinced, run the animals through an English-to-Japanese filter. :D

Here's hoping for Crayboth companions to Bun and Kit next drop!

Contacting them to order a bag of ninjas now. :) Going to be vending a show in October and these would be *perfect* for it, and it'll let me keep some for myself this way :D

Who needs a quarter machine when you have a booth and can make fancy signs? :P

No luck this weekend looking for machines. I did find one SSM vending machine, but it had other stuff in it.

What kind of stores have SSM vending machines?

I want to start looking for them, but don't know where to start.

I got some!!! (I live in Arizona, like 20 minutes from SSM.) I bought two big bags, so there will be a post for trading/selling extras shortly.

I've seen SSM vending machines at grocery stores and Toys R Us. If you see Brick Ops around, that's them.

If you collect this kind of thing, they're comparable in size to Fighter Pods and Mordles. I'd say they feel much stronger - less rubbery. The fit is perfect in the bases, so you can have Skeletons for lower legs on Pheyden if you really want.

I opened the Ninja bag (didn't get to animals yet) and I can say that there seem to be 50 (five zero) flavors - 5 molds, 5 colors, painted/unpainted. My bag didn't have painted OR unpainted examples of everybody - and the Skeletons seem to be more common. If you buy a sack, you'll get at least (seemingly) 1 of every mold, at least. I'd suggest also getting the header cards, as each has 5 painted figures on it for about $3.50.

What grocery stores have you seen them at (I apologize for the many questions, but I'm trying to figure out just what places around me will have them)?

While I play Mr. Know it All for toys, I don't know jack squat about how vending/gumball toy distribution works. For all I know there are regional aspects to it - so I'd strongly suggest making a grocery run and start taking notes. The cards on the machines are labeled SSM.

I saw some SSM machines at a Fry's Marketplace. In AZ, it's a local chain that is owned by the parent corporation Kroger. Fry's doesn't carry the exact same items as other Kroger stores in other states (Ralphs and what have you) so that may mean absolutely nothing. Check the machines and cross your fingers.

Also, I want to reiterate I bought these at SSM HQ - it was a bit of a drive, but definitely less time-intensive than checking every possible venue for the things. If I actually see any machines with the figures, I'll post and I hope everybody else will too. If you're in the area you can just go in and throw down your credit card. Handy!

Animal Series -

I just did a quick sort (I'll need to double-check) but my animal bag had no painted cats in it. It did, however, have a few dogs in grey, fully painted. The header card figures seem to have cleaner paint ops than the capsule figures, so if you're ordering a bag, ask for header cards with figures to go with them.
