Crayboth Collector's Visual Checklist

It's those pesky stowaways, really, that frustrate the serious Crayboth collector. Not that they're terribly scarce, it's their slippery incognito nature that makes it difficult to know which Crayboth the completest must acquire. To help with that goal, we present the Crayboth Collector's Visual Checklist. With photo identification of each production Crayboth now available, there's no reason not to collect all of these crusty characters!

My thanks to astro and Matt Doughty for their help in assembling this reference.

Some notes:
a. Spectre Crayboth (variously named) are all green glow with no paint, but the (Feb 2008) figure has distinctly different plastic than the later ones. The Spectre (Sep 2012) and Gendrone Spectre Force (Feb 2014) Cray' are identical -- I can't see any differences between them.
b. The Red Aura (Feb 2008) and Green Aura (Feb 2008) Crayboth came in the Sky Deviler Parasite edition and as promos given away by Onell. This where it gets fun for packaging completests: the promos came in factory bags with "Onell Design" stickers on them. To be really complete, I suppose you need a Sky Deviler, too.
c. Interesting observation: the original boxed Crayboth came with an insert that showed only the first 8, non-glow varieties. I have often wondered if Onell originally envisioned just four packs, and added the fifth after making a run of glows for the Sky Deviler / promo baggies.

Are Kavirvu, Senyrith, Gryganull and Grellanym really the only named cray characters in seven years* of these guys?

*I realize there were no new crays for three of those years, but I'm trying to sound dramatic here.

Do you think Kavirvu is a proper noun? I always figured it was one of those tongue-mangling planet names. But Matt's proper nouns are traditionally orally abusive and Crayboth didn't get off of Alcray much until recently. So I do believe, LV, you have just tweaked my world view.

I'm not sure I could at this point say exactly why I always assumed Kavirvu was a specific guy, but I think it's because, at the time, all the other Crays had "function" names like Marauder and Sentinel, and Kavirvu isn't that. But also because the EMD drop gave us two other named characters in Cane and Rynevo (I assume, right? I mean, Rynevo can't be a planet because his "type" is already EMD) and so it just made sense that the third thing with a weird proper noun attached to it was a guy with a name.

The biggest problem is that the Onell Database is incomplete, completely ignoring some figures like the Plastic And Plush Crimson Buildman.

been meaning to mention this for a while. on the download version. last row on page 1 and 1st row on page 2, the figures are out of order. september is out of place. maybe there is a reason that i'm unaware of but it seems the spectre and hades of september should be before the stealth of october.

not thats its that big of a deal or anything, just thought i'd mention it.
